Brooke Colbert, MD
Pulmonology
Dr. Brooke Colbert is a triple board-certified pulmonologist at Pike County Memorial Hospital. She specializes in lung disease and critical care medicine. Patients can see Dr. Colbert on the first and third Tuesday of each month at PCMH.
Dr. Colbert earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, graduating cum laude. While there, she completed residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics. Later, Dr. Colbert completed advanced fellowship training in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. In addition, Dr. Colbert is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine. Her training allows her to care for patients with both common and complex lung conditions.
Another area of Dr. Colbert’s training is endobronchial ultrasound, also called EBUS. Doctors use this procedure to examine areas inside the chest and evaluate lymph nodes. EBUS can also help diagnose and determine the stage of lung cancer. For many patients, traveling long distances for specialty care can be difficult. Having pulmonology care available locally makes appointments and follow-up care more convenient. It also allows patients to receive specialized lung care closer to family and their local healthcare team.
Dr. Colbert works closely with the cardiology team at Pike County Memorial Hospital. Because heart and lung problems can cause similar symptoms, this teamwork helps patients receive more coordinated care.
Patients with COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, ongoing breathing problems, or unexplained shortness of breath can receive specialized lung care at Pike County Memorial Hospital.
