Pike County Memorial Hospital is expanding to meet the needs of the area by working with a local family practice doctor in order to keep him in the community. Dr. Aaron Trone has practiced medicine in Vandalia Missouri for almost six years and he wanted to continue to provide care to the region. According to Dr. Trone one of the main reasons he wanted to stay in Vandalia was because of the relationships he has developed with his patients.
“I like knowing my regular patients by name, and many of these folks have been through quite a lot physically and emotionally over the last 5 plus years that I have been here. Going through these things together creates a bond that will always be there, and in some cases it is difficult or impossible to duplicate with a new provider.” When asked why PCMH was branching out to another County, Justin Selle CEO of PCMH said, “Our options were to let an established well liked physician leave the community or work with him to help keep health care in the area. In my mind the right thing to do was to help keep health care providers in the area so patients do not have to travel as far.”
