Wissam Derian, MD, FACC, CCDS
Cardiology
Dr. Wissam Derian is a cardiologist and Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) at Pike County Memorial Hospital. He provides comprehensive heart care, including specialized care for patients with pacemakers and other implanted cardiac devices, throughout Pike County and the surrounding area.
As a Certified Cardiac Device Specialist, Dr. Derian has advanced training in devices used to manage heart rhythm problems. These include pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), and cardiac resynchronization therapy devices.
Dr. Derian earned his medical degree from Lebanese American University School of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon. He then completed his internship and residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. In addition, he holds board certifications in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiac Device Specialist (IBHRE/NASPE). He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
His clinical focus includes a wide range of heart rhythm and cardiac device services. Dr. Derian implants pacemakers and ICDs, monitors and programs existing devices, and cares for patients with atrial fibrillation and other heart rhythm disorders. He also uses echocardiography to evaluate the heart’s structure and function. In addition, his expertise includes diagnostic left and right heart catheterization, pericardiocentesis, and intra-aortic balloon pump placement.
For patients in Pike County, access to a board-certified cardiac device specialist at PCMH can make routine heart care more convenient. Patients with pacemakers or ICDs can have their devices monitored, checked, and reprogrammed locally, reducing the need to travel to a larger city for routine follow-up care.
Dr. Derian works closely with the full cardiology team at Pike County Memorial Hospital. Together, they provide coordinated care for patients with heart disease, heart rhythm problems, and complex cardiac conditions, helping more patients receive specialized heart care close to home.
