PCMH Economic Impact on Community
During uncertain times, the stability and security that hospitals provide to their communities is reassuring. The very nature of the care we provide builds a strong bond that connects us to individuals and families in unique and special ways.

PCMH is an Economic Contributor
Hospitals are a mainstay of the state's economy, investing in keeping people healthy and productive, as well as making major financial contributions to the community. PCMH provides an annual payroll of $7,290,932.

Stable Employer
Hospitals are one of the few positive notes in the economic downturn. They provide a stable source of jobs, and the outlook for the future is encouraging. By 2016, a 12.3% increase in the healthcare workforce is projected statewide. Pike County Memorial Hospital employs more than 200 people.

Prepared for Emergencies
Hospitals provide a safe haven in times of greatest need, whether for individuals or as a community resource. Our emergency department treats all who come through our doors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are also prepared for manmade or natural disasters through large investments of hospital and governmental funds for equipment and training. PCMH has treated 6,848 patients in the emergency department for the last year on record. PCMH EMS door to EKG time for chest pain patients was 2.3 minutes in February, 2011 and door to CT scan for stroke symptoms was less than one minute in January, 2011.
